How it all started

My name is Stanislau Bazarnou, and this story began in March 2018, when I first discovered a simple method for learning and remembering new words

Back then, I had just started seriously learning English. I tried the method, and it worked surprisingly well for me. Within about six months, I was able to speak English with much more confidence

The idea was very simple: write every new word on a small card and use a few boxes to gradually move it from short-term memory into long-term memory

Whenever I came across a new word, I wrote it on a card and put it into the first box

Then, any time I left the house - a walk with my dog, a trip to the store - I took the first box's cards along and went through them again and again

When I came back home, I checked the cards once more. The words I already knew well moved to the next box. The others stayed where they were

Each box had its own review interval:

• Box 1 - every day
• Box 2 - every two days
• Box 3 - once a week
• Box 4 - every two weeks
• Box 5 - once a month

It was simple, physical, and surprisingly effective

The problem

There was one thing I was still doing all the time: writing down new words everywhere

• On a piece of paper
• In a notebook
• In my laptop
• In my phone

Whenever I saw something interesting, I wrote it down - but most of those words simply stayed there

Written down, but never truly learned

I started looking for an application that could combine the simplicity of my cards with the review system that worked so well for me

I couldn't find anything that felt quite right

So, years later, after gaining experience working in IT and finding some time to work on my own idea, I decided to build it myself

And that's how this application began

More than just words

Although the idea started with learning English vocabulary, I realized that the same approach could be useful for almost anything worth remembering

• Words from a new language
• Names of places
• Historical events
• Scientific concepts
• Mathematical formulas
• Programming syntax
• And simply interesting things you don't want to forget

The cards don't have to teach you only words

They can help you stay curious

Myata

There is one more important part of this story

I wouldn't have started this journey without the inspiration and support of my girlfriend, Tanya. And thanks to her, another very special little creature came into our lives - our ferret, Myata

"Myata" means mint in English

Myata was eight years old when she passed away on August 19, 2026, despite all our efforts and the care of the veterinary clinic

She was incredibly smart, endlessly curious, and always ready to investigate something unexpected. She had a wonderful ability to approach life with curiosity and openness

We wanted her to remain a part of this application

So, in a small way, she is here with us - and with you

We hope Myata will remind you to stay curious, to explore the world around you, and to remain open to new and interesting things
